Help East Houston get heard

One letter needs a few neighbors who spread the word. Champions get an invite link, a QR poster and ready-to-send texts, and see how many neighbors joined through them.

  • Your own invite link and a printable QR poster
  • Texts for group chats, Nextdoor and your civic club
  • Counts of visits, votes and signatures through your link
  • What to do next if the office doesn't answer

Champions never see who signed: only the numbers. Up to 3 per neighborhood.

Takes a minute. We check that you live in East Houston, like a signature.

Before you sign

Do I need an account?

No. Voting needs nothing at all. Signing the letter takes your name and street address; email is optional. There's no password and nothing to install.

Why do you need my name and address?

A council office pays attention to a letter from real constituents. We check your address is inside the neighborhood with the U.S. Census geocoder, keep only the street name, and discard the house number.

Your name appears only on the printed signature page mailed to City Hall. It's never shown on this website.

What happens when 10 neighbors sign?

A person at CivicBoost reads the letter, prints it with the City's numbers, the problems neighbors ranked first and the signature page, and mails it to your district council member at City Hall. There's at most one letter per neighborhood each quarter.

The neighborhood page shows the date it was mailed. If there's no reply within 30 days, we follow up.

Will the council member actually respond?

We can't promise that. What we can do is make the request specific, back it with the City's own data and named neighbors, and show publicly whether and when the office answered.

My problem isn't on the list. What do I do?

Report it to Houston 311 (call 311 or use 311.houstontx.gov) so it's on the City's record. Then use “Suggest a fix” on your neighborhood page so neighbors can back it; an idea joins the letter once 3 neighbors back it.

For emergencies, call 911.

Can I take my name off?

Yes, anytime. On your neighborhood page, in the browser you signed with, choose “Remove my signature”. A letter that was already mailed can't be recalled, but your name won't be on future ones.

How these numbers are made

  • Right now comes from the City of Houston's live 311 layer as of Sep 27, 2026, covering public-infrastructure requests (drainage, streets, traffic, water, trees, parks, dumping). That layer drops requests about a week after they close, so it's used only for what's still open.
  • Last year comes from the City's 311 archive for Aug 2024 – Aug 2025 (1,960 requests in East Houston), which hasn't been updated since Aug 2025.
  • “Deadline” is the City's own service level for each request type (working days converted at 7/5). Citywide, 33% of requests missed it. The neighborhood ranking compares each neighborhood with what its mix of request types would predict at citywide rates.
  • Time to fix is a Kaplan-Meier median, so requests still open at the cutoff count instead of being dropped. Small samples show “not enough data”.
  • Requests are placed by their coordinates within the City's Super Neighborhood boundaries. Votes are anonymous, one per item per browser. Neighbors' ideas are posted in their own words and are not City data.
